$10,000 in Scholarships Awarded by Credit Union ONE

Ferndale, Michigan - Credit Union ONE has announced the William G. Coyne Memorial Scholarship Awards for 2016. This year, nine graduating high school seniors were selected to receive scholarships totaling $10,000.

                                                                  

Nina Caradonna of Grosse Pointe Park has been awarded $2,000; while Justin McMahon of Warren, Jennifer Kanneth of Macomb, Cindy Chu of Troy, Mikaylah Gard of Livonia, Rochele Rayl of Sandusky, Allen Hull of Hazel Park, Julia Loring of Sterling Heights, and Eryn VanderVlucht of Roseville have all been awarded $1,000.  

The scholarship recipients were selected based on exemplary academics, community service, and written essays.

The William G. Coyne Memorial Credit Union ONE Scholarship Program, named in honor of retired Chairman of the Board of Directors, was created in 2009 to help the credit union’s student members further their education after high school.

“As a community based member-owned organization, we are proud of these young people and are pleased to be able to give back to our student members to assist in their successes,” said Paul Stuart, Credit Union ONE Chairman of the Board.

Scholarship Applications Now Available

Applications for the 2015-2016 William G. Coyne Memorial Scholarship Program are now available online and in all Credit Union ONE branches.

Any high school seniors who meet the following requirements are eligible to apply:

• Be a 2016 graduating high school senior
• Be a member of a family that has belonged to Credit Union ONE of Michigan for a minimum of six months (account must be in good standing) 
• Have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above
• Complete 30 or more hours of documented, qualified community service during their junior/senior year of high school before April 1, 2016 
• Plan to enroll in, beginning in fall of 2016, a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four-year college or university, or an accredited trade or vocational school

If you are a 2015 high school graduating senior and are looking for a scholarship, here are the eligibility requirements:

• Complete 30 or more hours of documented, qualified community service during Junior/Senior year of high school ending May 1, 2015
• Be a 2015 graduating high school senior
• Be a member of a family that has belonged to Credit Union ONE of Michigan for a minimum of six months (in good standing) (employees of Credit Union ONE of Michigan and their immediate family are ineligible to receive a scholarship)
• Have a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.0 or above
• Plan to enroll in, beginning in fall of 2015, a full-time undergraduate course of study at an accredited two or four-year college or university, or accredited trade or vocational school
