Credit Union ONE Members Reach for the Card that Gives Back

Ferndale, Michigan – When Credit Union ONE members use their Cash Back Checking account, they reach for the card that gives them rewards in many ways.

Since the inception of the Cash Back Checking program less than two years ago, Credit Union ONE members have earned over $602,000 in cash rewards. Almost 10,000 members have received a cash reward this year, and more than 150 of them earned over $150.

Members in the program receive points for using their platinum debit card and signing for their purchases. One point is awarded for every $2.00 spent, and once 3,500 points have accumulated they can be redeemed for cash which is automatically deposited into the Cash Back Checking account. Key to this program is that points never expire and there is no limit to what a member can earn.

In addition to cash back rewards, Credit Union ONE members enjoy many benefits of the platinum debit card, such as; extended warranty coverage, price protection, and purchase assurance. These are features that normally would be found in a fee-based credit card program, as opposed to a no-cost debit card program, which makes this a very unique product.

“We want our members to have the most competitive debit product at the top of their wallet and we believe our program is just that,” said Gary Moody, President and CEO of Credit Union ONE.

Credit Union ONE Institutes “Save My Cash Rewards” Campaign - Members encouraged to contact legislators for support

Ferndale, MI – In response to impending legislation regulating interchange which will increase fees to credit unions, Credit Union ONE has developed a campaign called Save My Cash Rewards.

Cash Rewards, a feature of the Cash Back Checking program, is a staple product of the credit union. This product is important to Credit Union ONE members, and if the interchange regulation is not delayed, Credit Union ONE may no longer be able to provide cash rewards. Additionally, if the Interchange Regulation takes effect, the credit union may be forced to raise fees and assess new fees for products and services which are currently free, such as online bill payment and debit cards.

In order to Save My Cash Rewards, Credit Union ONE is encouraging all staff and members to send letters to their legislators to ask them to support the interchange delay legislation. Along with sending out letters, the Credit Union ONE website will feature FAQ’s for members, a creative video recorded by Credit Union ONE, and a take action page where members can contact their legislators and ask them to support the interchange delay legislation.  For more information, members can go to cuone.org/savemyrewards.
