Credit Union ONE celebrates local healthcare professionals

Credit Union ONE celebrated local healthcare professionals during the month of May, in honor of several national events observed by the American Hospital Association including National Nurses Week, National Hospital Week, and National Emergency Medical Services Week.  

As a small token of appreciation for the hard work healthcare professionals do day in and day out, the credit union hosted a gift card giveaway for employees of Beaumont Hospital, St. Joseph Mercy Hospital Oakland, and the Detroit Medical Center. Employees entered online and 20 winners were randomly selected on June 1, 2016.

Credit Union ONE members take advantage of Ferndale document shredding day

Ferndale, Michigan – When important information gets into the wrong hands it can be devastating for those affected.

In an effort to help their members and the community at large, Credit Union ONE held a document shredding day at their Ferndale location on Saturday, May 30, 2015. More than 2,500 pounds of confidential personal and business documents were shredded on-site at the event.

 

Documents containing information such as social security numbers, addresses, account information, financial records or personal data, can be stolen and used to open lines of credit, use existing credit cards or to falsify personal information. Shredding documents that contain private information can protect individuals and businesses from fraudulent use of confidential data.

 

"Thanks to the help of Credit Union ONE I was able to purge my closet, giving me much needed space," said Credit Union ONE member Sandra Harl.

 

In addition to the success of the shredding event, generous members donated over $218 to support the Children’s Miracle Network while at the event.

“Every year Credit Union ONE provides this valuable service for our members as a safe and convenient way to dispose of unneeded paperwork," said John Kozich, Vice President of Community Relations for Credit Union ONE.

Working closely with Shred Corp., the industry-leading company that donated their time and equipment to provide secure on-site shredding services, Credit Union ONE coordinated the three-hour event for their members. The shredded paper waste collected was taken away for recycling into paper towel.

Credit Union ONE holds Document Shred Day at Macomb Branch

  Ferndale, Michigan – Over five tons of documents were collected for shredding as more than 400 Credit Union ONE members converged at the Credit Union ONE Macomb Branch to participate in a document shred day.  The annual event, held on Saturday, May 16th gave members the opportunity to protect themselves from identity theft and fraud.
 

“To create an awareness about the risks of identity theft and fraud, and to provide a safe and convenient way to dispose of unneeded paperwork, we have been holding document shred events for our members," said John Kozich, Credit Union ONE Vice President of Community Relations. "The response continues to grow as more members are becoming aware of the dangers of identity theft and fraud, and we plan to continue offering this service at various Credit Union ONE locations.”

 

In addition to the success of the shredding event, generous members donated over $314 to support the Children’s Miracle Network while at the event.

 

"This is a great service for members," said Credit Union ONE member Michelle Schoenek.  "The workers were so helpful and polite, and I am very happy to get all of that paper out of my house."

As a FREE service to our members, the Macomb branch of Credit Union ONE will offer document shredding services on-site Saturday, May 16, 2015 from 9:00 A.M. to 12:00 P.M. No appointment or sign-up required and members can bring up to 4 large boxes to shred (paper documents only, please).

Although not required, donations will graciously be accepted to support the Children's Miracle Network through the Beaumont Health System.

Ferndale, Michigan – Credit Union ONE was proud to honor all Beaumont Health System staff in May by celebrating them, giving away gift cards at each hospital location and an iPad Mini to one lucky winner throughout the campuses.

Close to 700 entries were received for the drawing, and Alicia Barnhart of Beaumont Hospital, Troy was selected as the winner.

"This was a very nice gesture by Credit Union ONE to honor Beaumont staff,” said Alicia Barnhart. “I was very surprised and excited when I received the good news.”
