Ferndale,
Michigan – Approximately 400 members turned out on Saturday, October 25, 2014
to the Credit Union ONE Macomb Branch to participate in a document shred
day. Over five tons of documents were collected for shredding as
participants took the opportunity to protect themselves from identity theft and
fraud.
“The
response continues to grow as more members are becoming aware of the dangers of
identity theft and fraud," said John Kozich, Credit Union ONE Vice
President of Community Relations. "Every year several million
people are victims of identity theft. To create an awareness about
the risks of identity theft and fraud, and to provide a safe and convenient way
to dispose of unneeded paperwork, we have been holding document shred
events for our members, and we plan to continue offering this service at
various Credit Union ONE locations.”
In
addition to the success of the shredding event, generous members donated over
$150 to support the Children’s Miracle Network while at the event.
"This
was a great opportunity to get some shredding done, and to donate to a great
cause," said Andrew Candela, Credit Union ONE member.
Shred
Corp., the industry-leading document recycling company donated their time and
equipment to provide secure on-site shredding services. After the event,
the shredded paper waste was taken away for recycling into paper towel.
