Ferndale, Michigan – Just recently, the Traverse City branch of Credit Union ONE joined local community members in the annual March of Dimes March for Babies.

Held on Saturday, May 5th, more than 300 people participated in the 5 mile walk held in Traverse City. Organizers of the walk estimate that more than $115,000 was raised during the event. The goal of this annual event is to raise money to fund research to prevent birth defects, premature birth and infant mortality.

Several Traverse City Credit Union ONE employees, along with Board Member Gail Westover, participated in the walk. To add to their fundraising, the branch also put together a beautiful basket holding locally themed gifts, that was raffled off. Credit union members received entry into the basket drawing for each dollar contributed to the March of Dimes. Between generous donations from members and contributions made to the walkers, Credit Union ONE raised $554.31 for the cause.

The lucky winner of the basket was Daniel Ladd, a Munson Medical employee. Ladd was thrilled to learn that his name was pulled as the winner.

“It was so energizing to participate in such a worthwhile national initiative at the local level," said Gail Westover, Credit Union ONE Board Member. “I was proud to be a part of the community-focused Credit Union ONE team and raise funds to support the "kids"."

Credit Union ONE warmed by great enthusiasm

Credit Union ONE walkers joined with close to 1,100 other
walkers to assist those with heat-related emergencies

Ferndale, Michigan – A team of approximately 32 Credit Union ONE staff and family members walked this year in the 22nd Annual Walk for Warmth which was held on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at the Great Lakes Crossing Outlets in Auburn Hills.

The Walk for Warmth is an annual event that raises funds and promotes awareness of the emergency needs of low-income people. All funds raised benefit those who face heat-related emergencies during Michigan’s harsh winters.

This was a milestone for Credit Union ONE, participating in the event for the last five years.

“We are extremely pleased that our team of walkers has grown so much over the past year,” said John Kozich, Executive Director of Community Relations for Credit Union ONE. Our staff is very enthusiastic about this very worthwhile cause and looks forward to participating each year.

Collectively, Credit Union ONE contributed over $600 to the Walk for Warmth, which included walker pledges and a corporate donation made on behalf of everyone that walked.

In 2011, over 524 families and 778 individuals were assisted by the Oakland Livingston Human Service Agency (OLHSA) with funds from Walk for Warmth, and the need is even greater this year. As always, 100 percent of all proceeds go back into the community.

Although the final numbers have not been received by OLHSA yet for this event, over $84,000 has already been collected, with more coming in daily.
