Credit Union ONE partnered with the Ferndale Area District
Library to host a series of money-themed events for local children and their
families. The events were designed to teach children of all ages about the
value of money, the importance of saving, and the difference between a want and
a need.
Children worked together and with volunteers to measure, cut, and tape during the arts and crafts event. |
Three events were held at the library during the final week
of April, which is recognized as Money Smart Week by the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago. April is also National Credit Union Youth Month and National
Financial Literacy Month.
Credit Union ONE staff volunteered to help with the activities,
which included an arts and crafts session where children made duct tape
wallets, a story time featuring money-themed children’s books, and a price
guessing game.
“We were honored to partner with the Ferndale Library to
host these events for the community,” Judi Desilets, Director of Corporate
Events for Credit Union ONE said. “Smart money habits start at a young age, and
we believe it’s never too early to start a conversation about financial responsibility."
