Credit Union ONE celebrates youth month with financial literacy

Ferndale, Michigan - April is National Credit Union Youth Month, and Credit Union ONE welcomed the opportunity to educate the youth in the Ferndale community and all of their branch locations about the importance of saving money beginning at an early age.

Recently, the credit union partnered with the Ferndale Area District Library and hosted two youth events for local children.
On April 13th, little ones were in awe as Credit Union ONE story tellers Andrea Pertile and Judi Desilets read books to them about what money is, what it is used for and how to save it.  The children got to sing songs, make a piggy bank, and even took home a coin saver booklet to get them started.
Telling a story, or playing The Price Is Right, it's all a learning
experience.

Ferndale Area District Library's own version of “The Price Is Right” was held at the library on April 15th.  Children were invited to ‘Come on Down’ to show what they knew about money by playing pricing games and winning prizes.

Throughout the month of April, Youth Month Celebrations have been going on at all Credit Union ONE branches, with giveaways for children, as well as educational materials for parents.

"We were very happy to partner with the Ferndale Area District Library to bring these events to local children," said Neetu Singh, Credit Union ONE Vice President of Marketing.  "The Youth Month activities that we were able to bring to our branches and the community were very rewarding.  We were able to engage with many young people and share with them the value of saving money."
