Credit Union ONE at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Spring Spectacular

Ferndale, Michigan – Five Credit Union ONE employees and two Board members participated in the yearly fund raising event for St Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. The Credit Union was a Bronze sponsor for the event which attracted nearly 400 guests to the Townsend Hotel in Birmingham, Michigan.

 The event was emceed by Guy Gordon, and the celebrity speaker was football hall of famer and former Detroit Lion Chris Spielman. Each year the Saint Joseph Mercy Health System raises funds for a deserving area of the Hospital. This year the Mercy Dental Center will benefit from the event. 

“With our Branch Office located in the Hospital, we see on a daily basis the great work that goes on their”, said John Kozich Vice President of Community Relations.  “We are pleased to participate in this yearly fundraiser, and look forward to being a partner in the future”.

Credit Union ONE Hosts Shred Day in Macomb

Ferndale, Michigan – Clean up and Clean out was the theme as Credit Union ONE hosted a paper document shred day on Saturday May 20th at the Macomb Township Branch. Over Five tons of paper was collected and shredded on site, as Members lined up and participated between 9am and Noon. Also almost $400.00 was collected in donations for the Beaumont Children’s Hospital in Royal Oak. 

The Credit Union hosts free document shred days in the spring and fall of the year, to encourage awareness and help members securely destroy confidential material. 

Credit Union ONE member Sherry Boyd was pleased with the day,” Thanks to Credit Union ONE for organizing this event for such a great cause”. 

“Identity theft is such a real and ongoing threat, and our members are certainly responding with continued large turnouts at each and every one that we host” John Kozich, Vice President of Community Relations for Credit Union ONE said. “ We collected over 10 tons of paper, and nearly $700.00 in donations for the Beaumont Children’s Hospital at our two May events”.

Dodgeball Tournament attracts 18 Teams - Credit Union ONE

Ferndale, Michigan – The 12th Annual Capitol Area Credit Unions Charity Dodgeball Tournament attracted 18 Teams, benefiting Child and Family Charities in Lansing. 

Credit Union ONE had two teams participating this year, helping raise $1,000.00 after expenses. “We were very pleased with the employee turnout for our team, and the third place finish was well earned” said Judi Desilets Director of Corporate Events. “ We held Team practices and everyone worked real hard, knowing that the funds raised were going to such a worthy cause”. 

Over 25 employees and friends allowed the Credit Union to have two teams this year. This event continues to grow and has resulted in some friendly rivalries and tough competition.

Credit Union Representatives go to Lansing

Ferndale, Michigan – About 35 attendees representing a handful of Credit Union’s, participated on a bus trip to Lansing to meet with individuals from the House and Senate. Ideas and Issues were discussed with State Senator Steve Bieda, State Senator Vincent Gregory, State Representative Robert Wittenberg and State Representative Christine Greig.

Among the issues discussed that are very important to Credit Union’s included Electronic Notarization and the forever hot topic of Data Breaches. Five Credit Union ONE Employees along with Board Director Jan Gillespie attended the all day session.

“It is extremely important to spend some time in Lansing discussing topics related to Credit Unions and their Members,” said Stephen Dedene Vice President Compliance and Risk. “ We make these trips every year, and we are convinced that it has a positive impact on building relationships with our Senators and State Representatives in Lansing.”

Credit Union ONE Breaks Ground on Future Shelby Township Branch Existing Shelby Township Branch to Relocate in Fall 2017

SHELBY TOWNSHIP, MI – On Tuesday, May 16, at 55600 Van Dyke Avenue, Credit Union ONE broke ground to begin construction on its new, full-service branch location. The existing branch at 51111 Van Dyke, will relocate this fall to the new location and will offer extended hours and introduce new tools and technology specifically designed to enhance the member experience.

Tuesday’s groundbreaking included Credit Union ONE EVP Chief Operating Officer Tom Schaeffler, Shelby Township Branch Manager Krystine Newberry, Union ONE Board Member Jan Gillespie, Don Brown Representing Congressman Paul Mitchel, Stan Muszynski Representing State Representative Peter Lucido, and Stephanie Heidt Representing MCUL League.  The ceremony marked the official start of construction, which should be complete this fall.
