Credit Union ONE hosts Spring Shred Day

Ferndale, Michigan – Clean up and Clean out was the theme as Credit Union ONE hosted a paper document shred day on Saturday May 6th in Ferndale. Nearly Five tons of paper was collected and shredded on site, as Members lined up and participated between 9am and Noon. Also over $300.00 was collected in donations for the Beaumont Children’s Hospital in Royal Oak.

The Credit Union hosts free document shred days in the spring and fall of the year, to encourage awareness and help members securely destroy confidential material.
Credit Union members Wendy Adams and Minnie Talley said “ The Shredding day was awesome and very much appreciated with nice people here, and we are glad to help Beaumont's Children’s Center”.

“Identity theft is such a real and ongoing threat, and our members are certainly responding with continued large turnouts at each and every one that we host” John Kozich, Vice President of Community Relations for Credit Union ONE said.

Credit Union ONE participates in the annual LA SED Awards Luncheon

Ferndale, Michigan – Credit Union ONE sponsored a table of ten on Friday May 5th, at the LA SED Annual Awards and Recognition Luncheon held at the Marriott Detroit Renaissance Center. This was the 52nd annual awards luncheon and Credit Union ONE has beed a participant for over twenty years. 

LA SED ( Latin Americans for Social and Economic Development ) focuses on Education, Employment, Training and Community Development. Credit Union ONE Board Member Guadalupe Lara who is the Director of the Consortium of Hispanic Agencies also emceed the event. The Honorable Mike Duggan, Mayor of the City of Detroit gave the keynote address.

“Credit Union ONE has had a long term relationship with LA SED, including summer kids programs and educational programs as we continue to work with this fine organization” said John Kozich, Credit Union ONE Vice President of Community Relations.

Credit Union ONE and St Joseph Mercy Oakland Bring Your Child to Work Day


Ferndale, Michigan – Two Credit Union ONE representatives spent part of a busy afternoon with about 25 students, as part of a “bring your child to work day” at St Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital. The topics ranged from short term to long term savings needs, along with college tuition and scholarship programs. “As part of our ongoing relationship and branch office located in the Hospital, we were happy to be asked to participate” said John Kozich, Credit Union ONE Vice President of Community Relations.” We were very encouraged by the questions and discussion points that were covered by the students”.



As part of the program, always paying yourself first was discussed when building your savings program. At the conclusion of the day each participant also received a small savings bank with a $5.00 bill to add to their savings account. “We were thrilled with the discussion about college savings and scholarships” said Judi Desilets,Credit Union ONE Director of Corporate Events. 

The savings and financial services section was one of many areas that were covered by a day long program set up by the Hospital staff. Other areas such as Laboratory Services, Radiology, Rehabilitation and Food Services were a part of the program.

Credit Union ONE Supports Marching Band

Ferndale, Michigan – For the sixth year in a row, Credit Union ONE is a supporting sponsor for the Ferndale High School State Champion Marching Band. The Band counts on sponsorship supporters and different fundraisers to help offset the cost of equipment and programs for the Band. “ With the reduced funds that most School Districts have to work with, we are very happy to help with the Fine Arts Program at the High School” said John Kozich, Credit Union ONE Vice President of Community Relations. “ We also want to congratulate the award winning Band”.

Pam Bellaver School District volunteer and Parent said,” Credit Union ONE has been consistently generous in support of the Ferndale High School music programs by their annual sponsorship of the Ferndale Golden Eagle Marching Band”. “ As a result of this sponsorship combined with others, the Band has been able to upgrade instruments, travel to statewide competitions, attend a week long camp at Interlochen, and enjoy their status as a State Championship Marching Band nine years in a row”. “ Thank you Credit Union ONE for your generosity and support in the education and enrichment of so many Ferndale Students”.

Credit Union ONE Partners with Traverse City Relay For Life

Ferndale, Michigan – For the fourth year in a row Credit Union ONE has been a sponsor for the Traverse City American Cancer Society Relay for Life. The event held this year on June 10th in Traverse City, will once again have Credit Union ONE Member Shelly McAllister as part of the team.


"It’s great to participate in this Relay each year, and I appreciate Credit Union ONE being a sponsor for this worthwhile event,” said Shelly McAllister. Traverse City Credit Union ONE Branch Manager Michelle Kilinski said “ We are glad to sponsor Shelly and to be a part of such a great fundraiser here in the Traverse City community.”
