Credit Union ONE houses City of Ferndale offices

New location for City of Ferndale 43rd District Court
Ferndale, Michigan – For Credit Union ONE it has always been about Community and part of that is evidenced in how they interact with the local governmental and city offices when there is a need.

Recently, the City of Ferndale approached Credit Union ONE as they needed a building where they could temporarily relocate in order for the city offices to be remodeled. Credit Union ONE was pleased to be able to give the City use of some of its’ office space just across the street from their headquarters, and so after obtaining approval from the City Council, earlier this month the 43rd District Court and some police offices moved into its’ new space.

“We couldn’t be happier to have such a partner as Credit Union ONE in this project,” said April Lynch, City Manager of Ferndale. “It was a wonderful convenience to be able to move just across the street thanks to the accommodation by Credit Union ONE.”

According to the City, the renovation plan has been a long-time in the works which is expected to take approximately a year to complete.

“This is what Community is all about, reaching out and helping when we can,” said Thomas Schaeffler, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of Credit Union ONE. “It was very professional and enjoyable working out the details with the City of Ferndale.”

Credit Union ONE has remained steadfast in their feelings about the community they began in, and so after 75 years, it’s no surprise that they have stayed headquartered in Ferndale.

Credit Union ONE, headquartered in Ferndale Michigan for seventy-five years, offers a wide array of financial services and access to over 30,000 ATM’s nationwide, serving 106,000 members, with eighteen offices in three major metropolitan areas, including Metro Detroit, Grand Rapids and Traverse City. "People Helping People" alive at Credit Union ONE

Credit Union ONE member Danelle Loyd with her new bike

Ferndale, Michigan – It has been said that every cloud has a silver lining. For one Credit Union ONE member that certainly turned out to be true.

Earlier this month, member Danelle Loyd was visiting the Ferndale Branch of Credit Union ONE and left her bicycle unlocked and parked near the entrance of the branch. Unfortunately a passerby saw the unattended bicycle and made off with it.

Understandably when Danelle realized what had happened she was very upset. In the course of placing a police report at the credit union, one of Credit Union ONE’s vendors happened to be in the branch and overheard what had just happened.

Vendor Mike Lammers from the Airea Company felt so strongly about what had happened to this young woman, and a couple days later showed up with a beautiful bike to replace the one that was taken.

When the credit union called Ms. Loyd to let her know about the new bicycle, she was overjoyed and rendered almost speechless.

“I am so appreciative and feel so blessed that someone thought of me and gave me a new bicycle,” said Danelle Loyd.

“These are the stories that we seldom get to hear, the ones that show the true “people helping people” spirit is alive and well within credit unions,” said Jan White, Credit Union ONE Manager of Risk Management. “We greatly appreciate working with people like Mike Lammers; he certainly is a good example of paying it forward.”
